For a long time, I tried to be careful with my words.
I softened the message.
I worried about sounding too opinionated.
I tried to make everyone comfortable.
But after spending nearly two decades studying hormones, nutrition, metabolism, mindset, longevity, and helping hundreds of women navigate midlife, I’ve come to a conclusion:
Women don’t need another polite conversation about menopause.
We need the truth.
The truth is that millions of women are walking around exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, gaining weight, losing sleep, and questioning themselves.
Not because they’re failing.
Because no one taught them what was happening.
Women are not failing menopause.
Menopause education is failing women.
We’re told it’s normal to gain weight.
Normal to stop sleeping.
Normal to lose energy.
Normal to feel irritable.
Normal to struggle through the day while pretending everything is fine.
Just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s normal.
And it certainly doesn’t mean you have to accept it.
Here’s what I know.
The women I work with are smart.
They’re successful.
They’re capable.
They’re the women everyone else depends on.
They manage careers, businesses, families, aging parents, community responsibilities, and endless expectations.
Yet many of them secretly wonder:
Why doesn’t my body respond the way it used to?
Why am I doing everything “right” and still gaining weight?
Why am I exhausted when I used to have endless energy?
Why do I feel like a stranger in my own body?
They’ve been told to eat less.
Exercise more.
Try harder.
Have more discipline.
But the truth is that many of these women don’t need more willpower.
They need better information.
Your body is not betraying you.
Your hormones are not trying to ruin your life.
Your body is communicating.
The problem is that most of us were never taught how to listen.
That’s why I’m here.
Not to sell fear.
Not to convince you that menopause is something to survive.
And certainly not to tell you that your best years are behind you.
I reject that narrative completely.
Because menopause is not the beginning of the end.
It’s your evolution.
It’s an invitation to stop treating your body like you did at 25 and start understanding what it needs at 40, 45, 55, and beyond.
It’s an opportunity to build strength instead of chasing thinness.
To prioritize energy instead of exhaustion.
To pursue longevity instead of quick fixes.
To become wiser, stronger, and more intentional than you’ve ever been before.
The Menopause Mentor Substack is where we’ll have the conversations that need to be had.
We’ll talk about:
Hormones.
Sleep
Weight gain
Metabolism
Stress
Brain fog
Relationships
Confidence
Aging
Longevity
And all the things women whisper about behind closed doors because nobody else seems willing to say them out loud.
You’ll find science without the jargon.
Practical strategies without the overwhelm.
Compassion without the coddling.
And occasionally, some tough love.
Because the women I serve don’t need another list of rules.
They need clarity.
They need context.
They need someone willing to tell them the truth.
If you’re tired of being dismissed, confused, or told that feeling terrible is simply part of getting older, you’re in the right place.
You deserve answers.
You deserve support.
And you deserve to understand what is happening inside your own body.
Welcome.
Let me re-introduce myself.
I’m Denise Stegall.
Menopause Mentor. Truth Teller. Hormone Translator
And we’re going to talk about the things that need to be talked about.

Thank you, Denise, for giving me a new perspective on living through Menopause
